October 14 – 16, 2011 Concert tour in Germany with the programme Ludi Musici www.schütz-musikfest.de
BRISK together with Susanne Braumann – viola da gamba and Bernard Winsemius – chest organ
This programme includes music by Johann Herman Schein and by Samuel Scheidt, two German composers who specialized in the instrumental genre. Stylized dances and popular melodies show the influence of such English composers as John Dowland and William Brade, who lived in Germany at the beginning of the 17th century. The combination of recorder quartet, viola da gamba and organ is an ideal one to perform works from Venuskränzlein (1609) and Banchetto Musicale (1617) by Schein, and Ludi Musici (1621) and Tabulatura Nova (1624) by Scheidt. This well-received concert programme can also be heard on CD (GLO 5214).
