How do two different composers deal with the same musical subject, and what does one composer do with the same theme in two different pieces? This is to be heard in 2 by 2, a comparative study of various Renaissance composers and Bach, moving through different styles, from the very first In Nomine to the Kunst der Fuge. BRISK changes Renaissance for Baroque instruments to play Bach’s Choralvorspiele and fugues. The whole programme is performed by the four recorder players of BRISK on an impressive, huge collection of recorders. The programme includes music by Tallis, Senfl, Scheidt, Sweelinck, and Bach.
